(Raw Text:)

hello again dear kin smoke and thank you for joining me I'm pastor visitor of cp/m and today we're going to continue our examination of the letter of Paul the Apostle to the Galatians and we left off in part 5 in chapter 3 round about verse 12 where Paul says that the law is not a faith but the man that does them shall live within them in a first glance that may seem like Paul as being antinomian or preaching against the law but that's not what Paul is doing in fact we're going to confirm today that Paul confirms the law quotes the law and ironically in his letter to the Galatians who are considered Gentile nations references several times the Abrahamic covenant and why is that important because Paul gets extremely racial here towards the conclusion of chapter 3 so with that introduction let's now begin part 6 and pick it back up in verse 13 what Paul says Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us for it is written cursed it is every one that hangs upon a truth now perhaps you're familiar with this Old Testament law because basically anyone who committed a sin worthy of death was to be and hung up on a tree but at the same time it was also forbidden by Yahweh God for that criminal or malefactor to hang upon the tree past sunset type let's prove that this is part of the law it's found in Deuteronomy but chapter 21 and Deuteronomy in many ways is a better translation of the law compared to Leviticus because Leviticus as a book is basically for Levitical priests whereas Deuteronomy is considered the layman's version for every common like you and I but nevertheless in Deuteronomy chapter 21 beginning in verse 22 Yahweh's law dictates if a man has committed a sin worthy of death and he is to be put to death and thou hang them upon a tree his body shall not remain all night upon the tree but thou shalt in any wise bury him in the day for he that his home is a curse said of God that I'll and be not defiled which shall a god gives thee for in inheritance now that's pretty important in looking at Galatians chapter 3 because Paul basically begins teaching on this part of the law part of the reason God gives us laws because it is a pagan practice it was the way of the heathen that if they crucified or murdered someone they would just leave them out with no respect unto the dead but on that same token notice he says for your land not to be defiled the same reason many of these laws would be given against whoredoms so that we don't slip further and further into apostasy and perhaps what's most important I want you to pay attention because this deals with land inheritance and that is a major part of the Abrahamic covenant that in my opinion is oftentimes overlooked he says Yahweh God will give this land unto you for an inheritance thus you can't defile it and this is part of the Mosaic law now that's important because he's going to go into this he says that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles now let's stop it right there for a moment the blessing of Abraham the father of many nations and in his seed was to bless all of those nations and in many ways Abraham's seed the Israelites blessed the other nations and oftentimes even the non covenant people more than any other race now we're going to deal with that term seedlings he says the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles through Jesus Christ that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith Paul is basically saying that their spirit is imparted more so by faith and not by the law and that's appropriate because he clearly taught that in the first segment but what's interesting about this is that part of the Abrahamic covenant was that statement that in his seat at all the nations or families of the earth be blessed upon the face of the earth and the Gentiles are part of that but that wouldn't stop certain Israelites like Peter from coming in and having a problem with Gentile converts and that if you will is the spirit or the leaven of the Pharisees that in many ways makes Knoll this word of God now Christ came as a mediator why well we're going to cover that today but first turn with me to Isaiah chapter 42 and it is here that we learn right at the beginning why no way God needed to raise up Yahshua to go after those lost sheep and dysphoria for example right at the beginning of verse 42 or chapter 42 behold my servant whom uphold my know left in whom my soul delights I have put my spirit upon him he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles now this is a messianic prophecy in chapter 42 of Isaiah's book but being a messianic prophecy even notice that part of that prophecy is to bring judgment day of the general the Gentiles those of the proper gene now that is really I run it when you look at all of this because we tend to think the Abrahamic covenant Joshua who came only for the lost sheep of the house of Israel is exclusive and in many ways they are in that their only to one gene that is the Edomites however now notice he says the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles he's quoting Isaiah chapter 42 and it continues here and goes on but verse 6 says I Yahweh have called the in righteousness and will hold my hand I will keep me and give deeper a covenant of the people for a light unto the Gentiles now you would think for a moment that any Pharisee would be familiar for that or familiar in that familiar with the aspect that Yahshua was meant to be a light unto the Gentiles but it didn't stop Pharisees from being blinded and in certain instances it didn't stop men like Peter from drawing back to the way of the world which is to be lifted up to be bang to be puffed up with ego and to be prideful but we all know no pride goes before a fall but Isaiah has so far in two verses of chapter three quoted Deuteronomy chapter 21 and I say ah chapter 42 now that is extremely important because most false prophets come in and they'll say you know Paul did away with the law completely now Paul can't do away with the law number one Joshua didn't do away with the law and clearly taught in Matthew chapter five that until heaven and earth pass not one jot or tittle shall pass from the law until all be fulfilled meaning that all is not fulfilled so Paul cross the Old Testament something he would be familiar with because he was a Pharisee and then continues to say brethren I speak after the manner of men though it be but a man's covenant yet if it be confirmed no man dis enola or addeth thereto you can't add to the company of Abraham and you can't add to a messianic prophecy but if both of those say that part of Yahshua is coming an eventual return is to be a light or a blessing unto the Gentiles that you can't add to or take away from there and so we really need to confirm what is a Gentile a Gentile is from the Auto dome but not of Israel demand not of the twelve tribes because they were set aside from the atom or atoms the man so notice he says after the manner of men I do not speak though it be but a man's covenant yet if it be confirmed and it's less confirmed in Yahshua our beloved kinsman redeemer and that term kinsman redeemer or kinsfolk victor is extremely important because you can't add to or take away turn with me to Hebrews chapter 9 and in Hebrews chapter nine Paul teaches basically the same thing but in verse 17 he says for a testament is of force after men are dead otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth so understand that point all Testaments or covenants are sealed in blood according to Yahweh God and His law thus you understand part of the reason why Yahshua had to be crucified at the hands of men but what's interesting about Hebrews is that it goes into detail if you reel back to verse 16 for where a testament is there must of necessity be the death of the testator for a testament is of force after men are dead meaning one shot Shula ascended to sit at the right hand of Yahweh God after he shed his blood from Calvary the Testament was signed sealed and delivered to the Israelites and the Gentiles and for two thousand years Jesus Christ truly has been a life unto all Israelites and Gentiles alike he continues here in Hebrews chapter 9 but verse 18 whereupon neither the first Testament was dedicated without blood neither is a plight way of saying not even so Paul says not even the first Testament or the Old Testament was dedicated unless there was blood with it and that's basically in a nutshell why all of those statutes and ordinances for Senate own men were affixed to the Old Testament law he continues for when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law he took the blood of calves and of goats with water and scarlet and wool and hyssop and sprinkled both the book and all the people so understand that was how you were made clean under the Mosaic law we saw a glimpse of that in the Passover with the blood over the doorpost but enough on that understand Paul never once said don't follow the law but what Paul did teach was that you're not justified there simply is no forgiveness of sins because they're technically never was there was only a hope that you were clean or unclean that there's a big difference between being clean and forgiving right you can still be seen clean in the eyes of God and before love transgresses in certain instances but that's just for another day now back here in Galatians chapter 3 that covenant can't be added to and it can't be dissin old and perhaps that's the reason why y'all way all the way back in the Old Testament made provisions against men coming in and adding to the word and we also read about this in the final chapter of the entire Bible that the man who is cursed adds to it takes away now covenant is a polite way of saying Testament so that includes both old and new now in Galatians chapter 3 verse 16 Paul says to the Gentiles now Abraham and his seed were the promises made he saith not and to seeds and seeds of many but as of one and to thy seed which is Christ that's a very racial term but notice seed is used three times and to Abraham and his seed were all the covenants made pointone Paul is confirming what the Old Testament teaches an exclusive covenant and an exclusive law made with Abraham Isaac and Jacob and their descendants then he says and he saith not and to seeds as of many but as to one denoting exclusivity thus this covenant doesn't incorporate the entire world and Christ never taught that it did he clearly said he came for his people and Isaiah prophesied he would come to save his people from their sins all of those terms are exclusive what point three is this and to thy seed third usage of this term race gene or seed which is Christ Christ's seed Paul is basically giving you a glimpse as to why Yahshua would spring from that Davidic line in addition to so many patriarchs Paul is basically telling you why that man Adam was set aside and Eve was created from that man as opposed to the Adam i'ts that were created male and female alike now I want you to understand several things and the only way you understand all of this seed line terminology is to turn with me to Genesis chapter 12 in Genesis chapter 12 we learn a Baberaham at covenant but verse 7 yahweh appeared unto abram and said unto thy seed will I give this land and there builded Abraham an altar unto Yahweh because he appeared to notice the covenant is based on seed line and the promise was made with a race but there also is a fix to that covenant and this is very important because we overlook it land inheritance going into the land of Canaan striking down the pagans and the Canaanite and ultimately but eventually because of a disobedient on the part of the Israelites obtaining that land the land of Canaan that ultimately would become known as the Land of Israel and so while it is correct to say that Israel is a man because he once was Jacob so also is it correct to say that there is a land of Israel otherwise the very Archangel Gabriel who came to Joseph Mary and Christ in Egypt wouldn't have had to say go back into the land of Israel my point is this is part of the Abrahamic covenant your seed will inherit this part of the land and thus the land was named after those people Israel or Israelites so there is a land inheritance - that is made with one group of people so other thing I want you to consider is found right here in Genesis but chapter 13 because we learn in verse 15 this is reiterated Yahweh said unto Abram after that lot was separated from them lift up now thine eyes and look from the place where thou art northward and southward and eastward and westward for all the land which you see I will give it to you and your seed forever what are we dealing with here in context land a land inheritance made with the descendants of Abraham the man who begets Isaac Jacob and Jacob surnamed Israel and Israel had 12 sons became becoming the twelve tribes of Israel now this is basically the Abrahamic covenant which is the linchpin in understanding the law it's giving its reasons for giving but it ties right to Christ who said I am only sent to the lost sheep of the race or house of Israel meaning seed and instructed his own disciples to go only to that seed of Israel so Paul continues in Galatians chapter 3 but verse 17 talking about this seed that is Christ and this I say that the Covenant which was confirmed before of God in Christ the law which was four hundred and thirty years after cannot discern all that it should make the promises of none effect so isn't that interesting because part of the Covenant is the law and if you take Galatians 3 verse 17 on its face Paul is directly saying that the Covenant and the law is that done away with can't be dissin old so how can any man truly come in and say Paul taught against the law he didn't he taught against men who believed that the law would you rent them salvation as opposed to the blood of Yahshua it's important and notice also he's mentioning here after the exodus after the gainsaying of core when the unruly Israelite said you know we'd rather have a brazen calf than the earth opened up and swallowed the majority of them but they had to go into wandering for 40 years no way clearly said we're going to destroy this generation part of that seed line until a new generation arose and in many ways I believe that there is a new generation that is going to fight the ultimate battle of gog and magog that's going to be alive during the battle of armageddon and it's my wish that I could hopefully Yahweh willing equip some of those men and women but notice he says the covenant that was confirmed before of God in Christ the law meaning that the law was a covenant made as a schoolmaster or a precursor for a coming Redeemer that is Christ so there's not much difference in them and this terminology Christ fulfilling the law can be confusing to some because they tend to think fulfill means do away with but if you do it deeper study on that word fulfill at least in the Greek it means to one of them to complete or to make stricter and in many ways Christ did as food for thought if you commit sin would you rather be responsible for the blood of a Turtledove or the blood of Christ the Son of God well in many ways when we sin willfully that's what we do we recruit a PHY Christ afresh so notice to Abraham and his seed where the promise is made thus Paul is saying that the Gentiles are part of that seat and probably a more important part of that seed because while they have the racial pedigree right which oftentimes blind Bay of Israel they have to spirit correct more so or oftentimes are more prone to that is when that spirit is imparted so turn with me to Acts chapter 7 this is also quite important because most of what Paul reiterates in Galatians as a book and as a whole is extra details about his conversion on the road to Damascus there extra details that aren't really mentioned in the Abrahamic covenant for example what we've just covered that part of Abraham a covenant or the Gentiles now that can be lost in translation and obfuscated in transliteration oftentimes however not quite the case in the New Testament turn with me to Acts chapter 7 we're going to examine verse 6 this is where we learn God's faith on this why's that his seed should say join in a strange land and that they should bring them into bondage and entreat them evil for 400 years and the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge says Yahweh and after that shall they come for it and serve me in this place well that's kind of important is it not because this deals with exactly part of the reason why Peter and Paul had a falling out in the chapter previous if you continue to read in verse 8 he gave him the Covenant of circumcision and so Abraham begot Isaac and circumcised him on the eighth thing and Isaac begat Jacob and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs and those twelve patriarchs to paraphrase ultimately went on and Christ would come from that bloodline and also be circumcised on the eighth day so what is circumcision it is a token or an outward sign of the Covenant even when that covenant was given but Peter and Paul had a contention over that part of the law what circumcision now you can argue and you could split hairs on this and in many ways it should be common sense that circumcision is healthier because Yahweh God knows what's best for men and science is technically proven that but back then it was meant to represent because it dealt with blood being an ordinance the Covenant itself so you could differentiate out the heathen right or pagan or Gentile boy from the Israelites now we clearly know under the New Testament that circumcision is of the heart of the mind it's so much more important to purge your life of Latin and false dogma so Peter and Paul had this falling now over a source of contention Paul was a disciple or an ambassador unto the Gentiles where Peter went to the Israelites in dysphoria but never the last day but it has over this part of the law Peter believed well they of the circumcision but Paul was persecuted by who they of the circumcision so oftentimes Israel runs a greater danger of being lifted up being prideful but nevertheless back here in Galatians chapter 3 Paul continues in verse 18 for if the inheritance be of the law it is no more of promise but God gave it to Abraham by promise so that's really quite the linchpin to what Paul goes into next and what so many people consider Paul saying that the law is done away with he comes in and basically says that there's one man Christ who is a mediator between the two and if you don't pay close attention to why this mediator comes if you don't understand lightwork we learn in Hebrews that there must be a death of a testator for that Testament to be in effect and signed in blood then you can get lost actually in my opinion towards the end of chapter three especially in a world where they come in and they say God loves everybody indiscriminately God still loves one seed Adam at the end of the day Gentile or Israelite but the covenant was made with Abraham and that covenant means a promise a promise that cannot be dissin old by them a promise that will never be done away with and a promise of in of a jewelry dealer in what two things the Mosaic law or what we consider to be and the coming Redeemer unto us a child is born so if the inheritance be of the law then it's no more of promise what can we learn from that turn with me to Romans Romans chapter 8 in this same chapter in verse 28 Paul teaches we know that all things work together for good to them who are the called or chosen according to his purpose right that doesn't mean for everybody but those who whom God has a purpose for he will turn everything all things Paul says in Romans 8:28 to good if you're colder chosen so turn with me to Romans chapter eight but let's examine verse 17 Paul says the spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God so how do you know the sons of God or the children of God spiritually did Christ teach otherwise no he taught him to judge a tree by the fruit did John teach otherwise no he taught believe not every spirit but try or discern the spear why because in that the children of God or the children of the devil are manifest Paul teach is the same exact thing the spirit bears witness that we are the children of God meaning that under the New Covenant the children of God are more so spiritually than they are physically continuing on and if children then heirs heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ if so be that we suffer with him that we may also be glorified together who Israelites and Gentile away if you suffer that's the condition of the Covenant so even when Paul was called Yahshua said I must show him so many things that he must suffer Paul became an example to the Gentile nations not of life being peachy-keen but of suffering Christian suffering or persecution now one more thing I want you to consider with your finger here in Romans just skip over to Romans chapter four it is here where we learn beginning in verse 14 Paul says if they which are of the law be heirs faith then is made Loyd void and the promise then is made of none effective because the law works wrath for where there is no law there is no transgression Paul says right here clearly in Romans chapter 4 exactly what I've espoused from this pulpit and that is oftentimes a sin committed and ignorance is no sin at all to Yahweh God but when you're made accountable which is exactly what the law was designed to do well then it becomes sin Paul says what silk'n he says now was it reckoned this is verse 10 when he was in circumcision or in uncircumcision not in circumcision but in uncircumcision and he received the sign of circumcision a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet had being uncircumcised that he might be the father of all them that believe Abraham might be the father of all them Nathalie now you should be able to understand why Paul says all day who believe belong to Abraham why Christ would tell the Jews in John chapter 8 if you read the seed of Abraham you would do the deeds of Abraham why abraham believed God do we believe God and more importantly do we truly believe his word well it's mandatory to do as such nevertheless let's pick it back up then Galatians chapter 3 but verse 19 wherefore then serves the law Paul is saying what purpose as well what does the law serve us then if faith then is more important and in many ways Trump's the works of the law pay close attention wherefore then serves the law it was added because of transgressions the law is for sinful men so if you're made perfect in Christ if you're washed clean if you truly believe in the power of God that Christ's blood has the power to forgive sinners then what blood is the law think about it because when you're truly forgiven it's as if those sins never existed and that's why Paul digresses into saying that a sin committed in ignorance is technically no sin at all in reference to the Gentiles the Romans in chapter 4 but nevertheless what purpose is the law it was added because of Israelites transgressions till the seed should come to whom the promise was made and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator a mediator why many reasons one of the greatest being that the Book of Jeremiah clearly says that Yahweh God was married to the Israelite men women and children but yet gave them a bill of divorcement and put them away now it is Christ who clearly returns for that marriage supper of the Lamb and redeems that bride right thus Yahshua and Yahweh are one but equal thus Joshua is the mediator of Yahweh and that is why so many people struggle with the end of Galatians chapter 3 he basically shifts into this why would you need a mediator then if the law was perfect a mediator from what the curse of the law because if you're sinful and all men sin you're guilty of all the law thus the law can be a curse so it is meant to be a schoolmaster to bring you to Christ it is meant to put a difference between the clean and the unclean it is there the law to outline sends unto death and sins that can be forgiven through blood atonement that is what serves the law but if the law was perfect there'd be no mediator to save you from the curse of the law that you are guilty of whether you walk around and say I'm so perfect I don't eat pork that's part of the law but don't think for a minute you don't send daily thus we need to repent daily and when we repent perhaps we should ask y'all we God to forgive us of those unknown sins anyway back in Galatians 3 but verse 20 now a mediator is not a mediator of one but God is one it is the law then or is it the law against the promises of God forbid for if there had been a law given which could have given life meaning eternal life verily righteousness should have been by the law Paul is damning the Mosaic law not telling you not to keep it not telling you that it's not good but he's saying what the law can't grant you salvation here it's rendered if the law could have given life eternal life where is eternal life found in Christ so quite clearly taught my sheep hear my voice you will follow I am The Good Shepherd and moreover I know my sheep so many are called but few are chosen in that regard the chosen here Christ and follow but Christ calls almost all and that includes the Gentiles not a mediator but it's not a mediator of one only God is one Paul begins by saying God is one the sees one with Christ the mediator and in context continues is the law then against the promises of God certainly not or god forbid for if there had been a law given which could have given life all the way back then well righteousness could have been of the law but that was never the promise the will or the intent of God giving oh ha ha and you should know this it's actually in the book of Exodus where this happens but Moses goes up to the mountain to receive the law but he's gone for about thirty days and the children of Israel say well where's Moses we need a law we want to ruler over us they melt down all the gold the spoils of the egypt that they brought with them and form for themselves a golden calf and worshipped it in place of Yahweh God must of all was given and Moses came back and broke those two tablets the law was given again written with the very divine and holy finger of Yahweh God thus the law made it and gave to Israel Moses reiterated it it was clearly defined for sinful Israelites all the way then so you can't miss it in the narrative but you can miss it in life Peter did many NCI do they shrink back and they want to go to the law as if the law could justify you they never tell you that part they never say hey it's good to follow the law because it'll keep you healthy it'll tell you like pedophiles kidnappers and rapists commit sins unto death so there's no salvation for them but at the same time just like Paul says here salvation never came through the law again as ice trust so many times you're either clean or unclean and it required a priest to do it even back then you didn't have the option if you were a lay man to go out and say you know what I'm going to take this dope and sacrifice it for Senate only you had to bring that goat to a priest because a priest or a rabbinical priest represented the mediator the mediator that was promised in the law and the Abrahamic covenant that would eventually come and part of the fulfillment of both of those covenants or prophecies or promises of Yahweh God was that all nations of the earth would be blessed the Roman Gentiles the Galatians the Ephesians the Philippians so as time is getting away from me we're going to leave it off in the final verse that I want you to consider that is Galatians 3 but verse 22 Paul says the scripture has concluded all under sin that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that belief belief is so important because it's technically a polite way of saying things and that you know as well as I do it is our faith that overcomes the world through faith if we had the faith the size of a mustard seed we could say that mountain B moves and it would move thus we don't have as much faith as we should or as much faith as is required Paul teaches that faith is more important than the law with us this ministry will continue to as well and so thank you for joining me today for our continuation in this book and until next time this is Pastor Vizard from cp/m wishing you and your family or for Christ amen
