CAUSE AND EFFECT

Cause and Effect

by Pastor Jeromy John Visser

(Introduction:)

Friends, in this study about "standing on the promises" we'll be investigating certain pledges made by Yahweh to the children of Israel and the very curses that go along with choosing not to act on His precious guarantees. This sermon will be unique in that we'll also be examining the current state of the world while looking to our Bibles for the answer and by examining these unique passages (all of which require faith to become a reality) we should be able to adjust our lives if necessary to bring about change in society. Let's begin:

(God Will Hear:)

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (II Chronicles 7:14).

Take notice of this eternal promise and act on it -- Yahweh says that He will listen and forgive the sins of His people and heal their cursed land if (and only if) they humble themselves, earnestly pray, seek God's face (or His unchanging ways) and turn from their own wicked ways. Not even God forgives unrepentant sinners and because of this verse it should become rather apparent why Christians are in the antichrist situation of the current day. Everyone who claims the title of Christian also feels they're following Jesus and His teachings.

Still, these same Christians (in name only) are unable to see that true believers can bring about change on earth because they're unfamiliar with Yahweh's eternal Word. If we look at the sick world today we can also see that genuine Christians are not acting upon the promise of this verse. If (meaning conditional) they will pray and seek Yahweh's Will on earth then God promises to forgive the sins of His repentant people and will go as far as to heal the very land in which they dwell. Sadly, most people prefer the darkness of evil over God's Light.

On the other hand, because of this verse we can also see the reason why we're not being blessed by God as a nation and instead overtaken by Sodomites and perverts on almost every level -- Yahweh is unable to change. A majority of Christians (called by God's name) are neglecting their duty of praying (and abstaining from sin) so as a result they've brought God's own curses upon America and many European countries who have outlawed Christianity or consider speaking out against homosexuals as some sort of "hate crime."

(God Will Protect:)

“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in Yahweh shall be safe” (Proverbs 29:25).

Let's probe deeper into the meaning of 'fear' as used in this Bible verse. The fear of Yahweh is the whole duty of man (Ecclesiastes 12:13), the beginning of wisdom (Psalm 111:10) and the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 1:7). We're to fear God because He controls all things and can be an angel to some or a demon to others (depending on which side of the fence they stand). Knowing that God creates and forms wickedness (Proverbs 16:4 Job 26:13) should help Christians to understand who attacked Job and brings curses upon His people.

Jesus teaches that “If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch” (Matthew 15:14) and that's exactly what those men who blindly trust in mankind really follow -- blind leaders. Christians are instructed not to trust mankind in any way, shape or form -- be sure to read Cursed the Man That Trusteth in Man for the opposite end of this spectrum. We all serve the God we fear and those who preach 'only love' in reality don't know Yahweh nor understand His true power. False "loving" brethren will quickly blame God for hurricane atrocities.

Common sense alone should teach Christians not to trust man (in any matter) due to their past records and violent history yet so many allow false prophets or the 'universal church' to cost them their eternal reward. Those who fear and trust in Yahweh will be safe from any snare that the adversary or world might throw their way, it's an eternal promise yet requires faith (meaning action) to be factual. Facts are facts, those who trust in man for anything (especially spiritual matters) are setting themselves up for major rejection and heartache.

(God Will Flash:)

“I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12).

To over-simplify, those who haven't been given eyes to see and ears to hear by Jesus will instead walk in darkness, imagine a blind man stumbling in darkness not knowing where he is nor who he follows. This is one area where my recent study of John 14:6 called I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life could help clarify -- the "light of life" is actually eternal life and this is only obtainable through Christ. Jesus is the Word and that's all the majority even know of God, beware of anyone who teaches doctrine not provable by the Holy Bible.

Currently within the WN movement there is a call to unite with non-Christians in order to (supposedly) win the common goal. I have and will continue to warn against this idea as we cannot side with the forces of darkness without being cursed directly from Yahweh Himself. Before asking Israel to change their wicked ways above Yahweh commands; “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness” (II Corinthians 6:14)?

Jesus teaches; “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness” (Matthew 6:22-23)! Without Christ lighting our (narrow) path or being the very reason we fight the enemy we will lose or fail in any vain attempt we make at anything. Those without Jesus (the Light) walk in great darkness -- so much so and how deeply man can never know.

(God Will Reward:)

“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city” (Revelation 22:14).

As I've stated before, it is in doing the Law (or the eternal Word) that our faith is made manifest to both the world and Yahweh. James teaches "faith without works is dead" (James 2:20) because our faith itself leads to direct action. For example, Hebrews 11:7 says “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved (action) with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” Noah's faith led him to do as commanded by God.

This prophetical Bible verse is unique in that directly afterwards it gives a description of all those who don't make it into the gates of the city (of God) -- “For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie” (Revelation 22:15). Once again we can see that murderers plainly have no place in Jesus' Kingdom, where does this place a country who kills Christians in Lebanon or the Gaza Strip in order to place imposter Christ-deniers in their place? Outright cursed.

Beware of false prophets who teach that the serpent-laden tree in the Garden of God represents Jesus Christ -- the Bible dismisses this fallacy. Genesis 2:9 says that “Out of the ground made YHVH God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” These are two separate seedlines so after Adam and Eve partook of the tree of knowledge of good and evil God expelled them from Eden to protect this same tree of life (Genesis 3:22).

(God Will Repay:)

“Every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life” (Matthew 19:29).

This verse doesn't imply that every believer will have to forsake their parents or family for the cause of Christ, simply that many will if their parents are pagans or antichrist. The ideal Christian family works together while supporting each other for the advancement of God's Kingdom yet so many self-professing Christians love the wages of the world over the eternal gifts promised to us by Jesus in His eternal Word. Respect is always earned by a person's own actions and is never blindly given due to mere 'titles' (like mother or father).

Jesus elaborates on this same idea; “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:26). This is an area where the enemies of Christianity will attack but again this isn't saying that we have to hate our parents in order to follow Christ, just that some will. We should always strive to get along peaceably with all men if it's possible (Romans 12:18) but the advancement of Yahweh's Kingdom must be what drives us.

What's the answer then? What's the deeper meaning of these types of verses? It's summed up in a single commandment spoken by Jesus Himself -- “Call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ” (Matthew 23:9-10). If we're to be called the sons of Yahweh (I John 3:1) then we can claim only one Father which is the Messiah. Never call any man 'pope' as this actually means "father" and there simply can be no replacement for God Himself.

(Intention:)

My intention with this short study is to help others see why we're in the sin-filled worldly situation we're in today. If this concept seems strange to you or if you feel the world is perfect just the way it is then I'd suggest you re-evaluate your faith in God and work towards claiming these promises for yourself. There's no substitute for truth. James wrote; “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16) but remember that it requires faith to bring about action which is pleasing to the Almighty God. Amen.
