Belief that Obama is the Antichrist now widespread?

Belief that Obama is the Antichrist now widespread? - Baltimore Sun [March 25, 2010]

A quarter of Republicans believe President Barack Obama might be the Antichrist, according to a Harris Poll released Wednesday.

In a survey by the same organization a year ago, Obama edged out Jesus as the figure most often named a hero by Americans. Now 24 percent of Republicans, and 14 percent of Americans overall, believe he might be the adversary of the Christ, Harris Interative reports.

Other findings in the online poll of 2,230 people conducted from March 1 through 8:

Two thirds of Republicans -- 67 percent -- and 40 percent of Americans overall, believe that Obama is a socialist.

A majority of Republicans -- 57 percent -- and 32 percent overall believe that Obama is a Muslim.

45 percent of Republicans, and 25 percent overall, believe that Obama was "not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president."

38 percent of Republicans, and 20 percent overall, say that Obama is "doing many of the things that Hitler did."
"The very large numbers of people who believe all these things of President Obama help to explain the size and strength of the Tea Party Movement," Harris Interactive says in a release.

The organization is drawing criticism for the manner in which it selected its sample and the way it framed the questions. ABC News polling director Gary Langer has posted a critique on his blog, followed by a lively discussion in the comments section.

Former Rudy Giuliani speechwriter John Avlon, whose polemic Wingnuts: How the Lunatic Fringe is Hijacking America inspired the poll, writes at the Daily Beast that the results "clearly [show] that education is a barrier to extremism:"

Respondents without a college education are vastly more likely to believe such claims, while Americans with college degrees or better are less easily duped. It's a reminder of what the 19th-century educator Horace Mann once too-loftily said: "Ignorance breeds monsters to fill up the vacancies of the soul that are unoccupied by the verities of knowledge."
The full results of the poll, which will be released in greater detail tomorrow, are even more frightening: including news that high percentages of Republicans—and Americans overall—believe that President Obama is "racist," "anti-American" "wants the terrorists to win" and "wants to turn over the sovereignty of the United States to a one-world government." The "Hatriot" belief that Obama is a "domestic enemy" as set forth in the Constitution is also widely held—a sign of trouble yet to come. It's the same claim made by Marine Lance Corporal Kody Brittingham in his letter of intent to assassinate the President Obama.

More findings and methodology from Harris Interactive follows, after the jump.

A new book, Wingnuts: How the Lunatic Fringe Is Hijacking America by John Avlon describes the large numbers of Americans who hold extreme views of President Obama. This Harris Poll seeks to measure how many people are involved. It finds that 40% of adults believe he is a socialist. More than 30% think he wants to take away Americans' right to own guns and that he is a Muslim. More than 25% believe he wants to turn over the sovereignty of the United States to a world government, has done many things that are unconstitutional, that he resents America's heritage, and that he does what Wall Street tells him to do.

More than 20% believe he was not born in the United States, that he is "the domestic enemy the U.S. Constitution speaks of," that he is racist and anti-American, and that he "wants to use an economic collapse or terrorist attack as an excuse to take dictatorial powers." Fully 20% think he is "doing many of the things that Hitler did," while 14% believe "he may be the anti-Christ" and 13% think "he wants the terrorists to win."

These are some of the results of The Harris Poll of 2,320 adults surveyed online between March 1 and 8, 2010 by Harris Interactive.

The actual percentages of adults who believe these things are true are as follows:

    He is a socialist (40%)
He wants to take away Americans' right to own guns (38%)
    He is a Muslim (32%)
He wants to turn over the sovereignty of the United States to a one world government (29%)
He has done many things that are unconstitutional (29%)
    He resents America's heritage (27%)
He does what Wall Street and the bankers tell him to do (27%)
He was not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president (25%)
He is a domestic enemy that the U.S. Constitutions speaks of (25%)
    He is a racist (23%)
    He is anti-American (23%)
He wants to use an economic collapse or terrorist attack as an excuse to take dictatorial powers (23%)
He is doing many of the things that Hitler did (20%)
He may be the Anti-Christ (14%)
He wants the terrorists to win (13%)
What Republicans, Democrats and Independents think

There are - no surprise here - huge differences between what Republicans and Democrats believe. Majorities of Republicans believe that President Obama:

    Is a socialist (67%)
Wants to take away Americans' right to own guns (61%)
    Is a Muslim (57%)
Wants to turn over the sovereignty of the United States to a one world government (51%); and
Has done many things that are unconstitutional (55%).
Also large numbers of Republicans also believe that President Obama:

    Resents America's heritage (47%)
Does what Wall Street and the bankers tell him to do (40%)
Was not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president (45%)
Is the "domestic enemy that the U.S. Constitution speaks of" (45%)
    Is a racist (42%)
Want to use an economic collapse or terrorist attack as an excuse to take dictatorial powers (41%)
Is doing many of the things that Hitler did (38%).
Even more remarkable perhaps, fully 24% of Republicans believe that "he may be the Anti-Christ" and 22% believe "he wants the terrorists to win."

While few Democrats believe any of these things, the proportions of Independents who do so are close to the national averages.

One big surprise is that many more Republicans (40%) than Democrats (15%) believe the president does what Wall Street and the bankers tell him to do.

    Differences by education

These replies are also strongly correlated with education. The less education people have had the more likely they are to believe all of these statements. Consider these differences between those with no college education and those with post-graduate education:

    He is a socialist (45% and 20%)
He wants to take away Americans' right to own guns (45% and 19%)
    He is a Muslim (43% and 9%)
He was not born in the United States so is not eligible to be president (32% and 7%)
    He is a racist (28% and 9%)
    He is anti-American (27% and 9%)
He is doing many of the things Hitler did (24% and 10%).
After reviewing these findings, John Avlon comments, "These new numbers are shocking but not surprising - they detail the extent to which Wingnuts are hijacking our politics. This poll should be a wake-up call to all Americans about the real costs of using fear and hate to pump up hyper-partisanship. We are playing with dynamite by demonizing our president and dividing our country in the process. Americans need to remember the perspective that Wingnuts always forget - patriotism is more important than partisanship."

    So what?

So what indeed! These responses recall a favorite saying of our founder Lou Harris that "when you don't want to publish a poll finding you dislike, you should get out of the business." The very large numbers of people who believe all these things of President Obama help to explain the size and strength of the Tea Party Movement, a topic that will be addressed in another Harris Poll in a few days time.

This Harris Poll was conducted online within the United States March 1 and 8, 2010 among 2,320 adults (aged 18 and over). Figures for age, sex, race/ethnicity, education, region and household income were weighted where necessary to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the population. Propensity score weighting was also used to adjust for respondents' propensity to be online.

All sample surveys and polls, whether or not they use probability sampling, are subject to multiple sources of error which are most often not possible to quantify or estimate, including sampling error, coverage error, error associated with nonresponse, error associated with question wording and response options, and post-survey weighting and adjustments. Therefore, Harris Interactive avoids the words "margin of error" as they are misleading. All that can be calculated are different possible sampling errors with different probabilities for pure, unweighted, random samples with 100% response rates. These are only theoretical because no published polls come close to this ideal.

Respondents for this survey were selected from among those who have agreed to participate in Harris Interactive surveys. The data have been weighted to reflect the composition of the adult population. Because the sample is based on those who agreed to participate in the Harris Interactive panel, no estimates of theoretical sampling error can be calculated.

The results of this Harris Poll may not be used in advertising, marketing or promotion without the prior written permission of Harris Interactive.

These statements conform to the principles of disclosure of the National Council on Public Polls.

What I find interesting is here in the dirty South all the nogs were uppity about Obama being their savior.

Now they hate him and consider him an "Uncle Tom."

The United Methodist Church has always been extremely liberal politically and socially. Here's a quote from their "Book of Discipline":

¶ 4. Article IV. Inclusiveness of the Church
The United Methodist Church is a part of the church universal, which is one Body in Christ. The United Methodist Church acknowledges that all persons are of sacred worth. All persons without regard to race, color, national origin, status,4 or economic condition, shall be eligible to attend its worship services, participate in its programs, receive the sacraments, upon baptism be admitted as baptized members, and upon taking vows declaring the Christian faith, become professing members in any local church in the connection.5 In The United Methodist Church no conference or other organizational unit of the Church shall be structured so as to exclude any member or any constituent body of the Church because of race, color, national origin, status or economic condition.6
    4. Amended 1992.
    5. Amended 2000.

Just another mainstream church with that politically correct, melting pot attitude. A great reason not to pay them any heed.

Yup. I was raised UMC, but here in the rural South, it's really unusual to see a black in a UMC congregation. You'd have to go to a big church in the city to see any. The black AME, on the other hand, won't fold into the UMC... not because they don't want a white preacher, but because they're scared of getting a queer preacher. The UMC has consistently closed it's eyes to ministers known to be queer even though homosexuality is... or was... condemned by the Book of Discipline.

The blanket acceptance of queers is the main reason I left the UMC years ago. Praise Yahweh that I'm on the correct path now.

Obama may not THE Antichrist, as in That Man of Sin, but he's certainly AN antichrist.

Amen to that!! THE Antichrist will hold the reins of the New World Order. Obama is just a puppet who answers to a higher power (the Rothschild family and others of their ilk, I imagine). He is, however, anti-Christ and anti-Christian. He's certainly no friend of true Israelite Christians and our God-given liberty.

Muslims Allowed to Opt-Out Of Obamacare

    Written by Bruce Eden

Christians/Jews Need Not Apply For Obamacare Opt-Out Exemption'. Others are Exempt as well. Is this Obama's down with the American Majority Plan? Sure Looks like it!

ObamaCare discriminates against Christians and Jews by denying them special exemptions extended to other religions. If you are a mainstream Christian or a Jew, you need not apply to Opt Out of ObamaCare; that exemption is reserved for Muslims, Scientologists, Amish, Christian Scientists and Native American Indians who have a "conscientious objection" to insurance. A conscientious objection to theft committed by rouge politicians under the color of law with the threat of violence for non-compliance isn't sufficient in America today to exempt average Americans from the stranglehold of government.

Believe it or not, if you are a Muslim you may claim a special religious exemption to Obama-Care that is denied to main-stream Christians and Jews. Or if you prefer a New-Age religion to Islam, you may become a Scientologist and Opt Out of ObamaCare's mandatory purchase of health insurance. Or, if you happen to be of Native American Indian extraction you too can opt out of the insurance laws by which everyone else in America must abide.

"There are several reasons why an individual could claim exemption, being a member of a religion that does not believe in insurance is one of them. Islam is one of those religions. Muslims believe that health insurance is "haraam," or forbidden; because they liken the ambiguity and probability of insurance to gambling. This belief excludes them from any of the requirements, mandates, or penalties set forth in the bill. Other excluded groups include Amish, American Indians, and Christian Scientists." - Quote from Liberty & Pride Blog

What is next? Allowing Muslims to opt out of mandatory state automobile insurance laws? If you are a typical hardworking American who pays the freight for this healthcare Obamanation, you are required not only to pay the taxes to support free and subsidized healthcare for others, you also will be required to purchase health insurance or pay a fine if you don't while certain favored religions and ethnic groups are allowed to escape the government's maw. The U.S. Constitution supposedly grants ALL Americans equal protection of the law but under ObamaCare, some Americans are clearly more equal than others.

Make no mistake, ObamaCare is a law specifically written NOT to apply equally to everyone. It is the single biggest act of discrimination enacted under the color of law since Jim Crow Laws. One Congressman, Jim Hare of Illinois, let the cat out of the bag in shocking fashion when he admitted he didn't worry about the Constitution when legislating ObamaCare into law. Even more astonishing, the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Max Baucus admitted that the purpose of ObamaCare is as much about redistributing income--"sharing the wealth"--as it is about reforming health care:

"Health reform is "an income shift," Democratic Sen. Max Baucus said on March 25. "It is a shift, a leveling, to help lower income, middle income Americans." "In his halting, jumbled style, Baucus explained that in recent years "the maldistribution of income in America has gone up way too much, the wealthy are getting way, way too wealthy, and the middle income class is left behind." The new health care legislation, Baucus promised, "will have the effect of addressing that maldistribution of income in America."" Hand in hand with income redistribution and religious discrimination comes the iron fist of government and outright control of the people by bureaucrats, which Congressman John Dingell of Michigan admits will be the eventual consequence of ObamaCare. His only regret is that it will take so long to erect the mechanisms of control.

Religious Discrimination, IRS oversight of religion, blatant theft euphemized as "an income shift," and control of the people with the threat of violence disguised as "law enforcement," these are the purposes and consequences of ObamaCare as admitted by the very legislators who voted to enact it into law. By our representatives' own words, the U.S. Congress has come completely un-tethered from the U.S. Constitution and gone off the rails. All three great religions of Abraham hold theft as morally wrong. Forcibly taking the property of an innocent person and giving it to another person is theft, pure and simple, whether it is committed by an outlaw under the cover of darkness or by a politician under the color of law. ObamaCare is Theft.

The law uses the old Social Security language (Sec. 1402(g)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code) to determine who will be eligible for a "religious conscience" objection to the insurance mandate. Specifically, the bills would provide exemptions for adherents of "recognized religious sects" that are "conscientiously opposed" to accepting benefits from any insurance--private or public-- "which makes payments in the event of death, disability, old-age, or retirement or makes payments toward the cost of, or provides services for, medical care." To qualify for the exemption, the sect would have to have been in existence continuously since December 31, 1950. As provided for in the new law: "EXEMPTIONS FROM INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY REQUIREMENTS" --In the case of an individual who is seeking an exemption certificate under section 1311 (d)(4)(H) from any requirement or penalty imposed by section 5000A, the following information: "In the case of an individual seeking exemption based on the individual's status as a member of an exempt religious sect or division, as a member of a health care sharing ministry, as an Indian, or as an individual eligible for a hardship exemption, such information as the Secretary shall prescribe."

Therefore, if the same logic applies by which the ObamaCare holds Sharia Law's prohibition against gambling above the law of the land, so too should Christians and Jews be allowed to place the Eighth Commandment (Thou Shalt Not Steal) above the power of the state to expropriate property from innocent people in the name of income redistribution for "the greater good." Instead, ObamaCare replaces the Eighth Commandment of the Book of Exodus, which was inscribed on a stone tablet by the hand of God, with the Seventh Commandment from the Book of Orwell, Animal Farm, written on the wall of a barn: "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

Muslims are given exemptions from laws everyone else has to follow, and this special privilege is justified as simply allowing them to freely exercise their religion; when average Americans demand to be allowed to live their lives without being oppressively regimented under the threat of violence from IRS goons, they are accused of demanding "special rights," and denied the freedom of choice under the excuse of "serving the greater good." After Osama bin Laden destroyed the Twin Towers in the name of Allah, Christians and Jews across America rallied to prevent a backlash against innocent Muslims. In the great American tradition of religious freedom and tolerance and in defense of our cherished commitment to equal protection of the rule of law, Americans of all walks of life stood shoulder to shoulder with their peaceful Muslim brethren to prevent religious discrimination. That is why freedom-loving, tolerant Americans are so outraged at the President of the United States and the U.S. Congress for conniving to drive a wedge between Muslims and the other two great religions of Abraham. In the greatest power grab of all time, President Obama and the U.S. Congress have pitted American against American, Christian against Muslim, Torah against the Koran. It is unconscionable.

The lucky few that get to OPT OUT of ObamaCare are not forced to buy healthcare insurance they don't want, unlike most Americans; and, to top it off, they don't have to pay the taxes or penalties associated with health care reform. So while most Americans (that includes You!) will be required to purchase health care coverage deemed appropriate by President Obama and the government or face heavy fines, the privileged few such as Muslims get to OPT OUT.

Sign The National ObamaCare Opt Out (NOOO!) Registry and demand to be permitted to opt out of Obama's socialized health-care mandate. Demand that your representatives put God's Eighth Commandment above George Orwell's Seventh Commandment. Demand that Congress keep the government out of your health care decisions. DEMAND EQUAL TREATMENT. Demand to be EXCLUDED from any government-run or mandated health care program and exempt from any and all taxes, fees, and mandates imposed to pay for it.

Let's Get this Straight: President Obama, Vice President Biden, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, White House Staff, Cabinet Secretaries, Congressional staffers who wrote ObamaCare & staffers working in a leadership office or for a Congressional committee all receive an exemption., Amish, American Indian Tribes, Criminals, Scientologists, Christian Scientists and Muslims--ALL EXEMPT FROM OBAMACARE! Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans, Jews, You--NO EXEMPTION! How can a religious exemption include certain religions and not others? Whatever happened to Equal Protection of the Laws guaranteed in the United States Constitution? President Obama and Lawmakers put themselves above the law. Now, certain special individuals are allowed to opt out too? It is unthinkable that socialized health care is MANDATED to you and NOT EVERYONE! A healthcare mandate nonetheless, shoved down your throat despite cries and protests against it. Demand an Individual Opt Out Today!

1 Million 'Fans' Of Obama Death Prayer Page - WBNS-TV

1 Million 'Fans' Of Obama Death Prayer Page

MARYSVILLE, Ohio — More than 1 million people on Friday had given a "thumbs up" to a central Ohio-based Facebook fan page that appears to pray for President Barack Obama's death.

The page is now getting some attention from the secret service, 10TV's Andy Hirsch reported.

Claiming to originate from Marysville, one of the hottest new Facebook pages has racked up more than 1 million fans in a few weeks.

The page's title is, "Dear Lord, this year you took my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze. You took my favorite actress, Farah Fawcett. You took my favorite singer, Michael Jackson. I just wanted to let you know, my favorite President is Barack Obama. Amen."

Among the people paying attention to the page are secret service agents in central Ohio.

The owner of the page was keeping quiet, remaining anonymous, but reportedly posted that the page should not be taken so seriously.

    Others agree, Hirsch reported.

"Chill out," one fan wrote on the wall. "It was just a joke (and a funny one at that.)"

    Many called it disgusting.

"Since when is it OK to pray that the father of two young girls should die, just because you disagree with his politics?" One poster wrote. "Oh, its just a joke? Then not funny."

The U.S. attorney's office said incidents such as this are about determining what free speech is, and what constitutes a clear threat.

Regardless of what the Secret Service's investigation uncovers, simply being a fan of the page will not likely get you in trouble.

Facebook said while the company is sensitive to content that includes hate speech and threats of violence, the page does not violate company policies and there are no plans to remove it.
