U.S. immigration levels reached a record high in 2016

U.S. immigration levels reached a record high in 2016, tying with 1999 for the most arrivals – combined legal and illegal – in a single year, according to a new report out Wednesday.

A total of 1.75 million immigrants entered the U.S. in 2016, the most recent year for which data is available.

The latest numbers reflect an increase from 2015, when 1.62 million immigrants entered the country, according to an analysis by the Center for Immigration Studies.

'In 1999, the big number was almost certainly caused by legal immigration slowly growing since the 1980s,' he told DailyMail.com. 'There were new temporary migrant programs, student programs that had been increasing and finally, illegal immigration was reaching a crescendo.'

Randy Capps, director of research at the pro-immigration Migration Policy Institute, said that much of that legal immigration has been driven by an increase in people coming to the U.S. to join family members already living here.

'If you think our current policy around reuniting families a good thing, then it would make sense that the numbers would increase, particularly in a year when the economy was strong,' Capps told DailyMail.com.

'A lot of this is growth in high skilled immigration which most economic studies have shown benefits the economy and compliments U.S. workers,' he added. 'We have a healthy economy, we have a demand for workers, we have an aging work force and we've had a low birth rate since 2008 - so there's going to be more demand for immigrant workers of all skill levels.

Data for the first half of 2017 reveals some clues for how immigration shifted after President Donald Trump took office, with 930,000 new immigrants arriving in the country – less than the first six months of 2016.

In my experience. Overthinking and theory craft creates division in our racial people. Border control is racial. The games people play to earn money twists clear goals of preventing racial genocide of our people. Yahweh's commandment of kind after kind is the only border control theory that works and will work.

Sad but factual. Once a couple of million invaders get legal status to hate our people. Continued efforts to keep our people safe and well of hate gets much much harder.
