Thread: King James or Authorised King James?

  1. #1

Question King James or Authorised King James?

Which is best? I have two bibles in my house. A New International Version which although easy to read is a bad translation. Also the Harper-Collins King James. I think The Authorised King James is more accurate, is this true?

Also I have heard Pastor Visser mentioning the Strong's concordance and the Septuagint. Although isn't the latter in Greek!? Sadly I only speak English with a smattering of French, Spanish and German.

    Also RIP pastor Wickstrom!

A somewhat confusing thread because the King James Bible is the Authorized version.

I do know the "new" KJV is garbage.

The King James is the Authorized Version. I believe you mean the Amplified King James Version which has footnotes etc. You can get a comparative Bible that has both versions.

The Septuagint is the Old Testament that was translated from Hebrew to Greek. They do have an English translation of it.

A Strong's Concordance is made up of three sections. Main Concordance (tells you where every word can be found in the Bible), Comparative Concordance (shows word differences of the Revised Version to the Authorized Version) and a Hebrew and Greek dictionary.

I see... if it is the same thing then I already have it. My mistake! For some reason one edition on Amazon just says 'King James Bible' and another 'Authorised King James Bible'. I presume they are just different companies producing the same book.

Yeah all the newer ones are not very good. Modern language has been butchered by the usual suspects.

... I see how the Strongs could really aid teaching, thanks for the info!

You know what the difference between the jews and the Nazis is?
The jews are actually guilty of the crimes their accused of.

I figure I might be the American Standard translation 1977. The 1960s and 1970s was the time enforced desegregation. Along with a lot a corruption of the Western world.
