(Raw Text:)

hello again friends and thank you for joining me I'm pastor Visser of Brooks Georgia and I'm pleased to announce today that we will be continuing our long-running scrutinize ation of every word spoken by the minor prophet Micah and if you were with me last time you know that we left off right at the conclusion of chapter 4 leaving this slot hoping for a beautiful study beginning in Micah chapter 5 verse 1 therefore if you have a King James Version of the Bible I didn't fight you to study along with us as we pick it back up and Micah chapter 1 verses 1 & 2 now before we actually look at this I should point out that right off the bat we're going to deal with two prophecies both of which deal with Yahshua the Christ but ironically the first one deals with his death and the second one deals with his birth so without further ado Micah 5 verse 1 reads as such now gather thyself in troops Oh daughter of troops he has laid siege against us they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek now perhaps you already know who fulfilled that particular prophecy but I want to point out before we even begin Micah chapter 5 that we're going to deal with many terms such as this judge of Israel and in the next verse ruler in Israel and why is that important you may be asking because here momentarily we're gonna move to the New Testament Gospels and prove that Christ fulfilled these prophecies but by that time you see the Israelites had been dispersed abroad in fact it was Christ who said in three different places he came to gather all of the Israelites well the first verse says now gather thyself in troops Oh daughter of troops he has laid siege against us and they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek though it is quite entertaining how modern Christendom will come in and say Jesus tells you not to judge at all when in reality right here we learn that Christ is the judge and the ruler of the Israelite men women and children and not only that taught us to judge a tree according to their fruit meaning to always use discernment and so to begin laying the groundwork for this beautiful Nativity story turn with me to the Gospel according to Matthew and it is here where we learn in chapter 27 of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ for example we learned beginning in verse 25 then answered all the people the Israelites remember Christ came unto his own but his own received him not the people said his blood be upon us and our children then answered all the people and said let his blood be upon us and our children forever very important statement because some of us are anointed and covered by the blood of Jesus Christ some of us are responsible for the blood of Christ those unrepentant sinners that seemingly crucified Christ afresh over and over but verse 26 continues then released he this is Pilate Barabbas unto them and when he had scourged Jesus he delivered him to be crucified meaning for that very reason and so Micah chapter five verse one begins on a dismal messianic prophecy of the coming Redeemer being hit upon the face with a rod right well what do we learn then soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common Hall and gathered unto Him the whole band of soldiers and they stripped him and they put upon him a scarlet robe and when they had plaited a crown of thorns they put it upon his head and a reed with in his right hand and they bowed before him saying hail king of the Judeans verse 30 and they spit upon him and took the reed and smote him upon the head in fulfillment of Micah chapter 5 verse 1 where he foretold long before the fact that they who the governors and the religious leaders of his time will smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek now we will most assuredly preach on the death burial and resurrection of Christ during spring when it's most appropriate and many people have come against me for actually preaching the Nativity story which is ironic because if knowledge is power what good is the knowledge of knowing the pagan origins of Christmas if it leads you to be an ignoramus towards your own family don't even consider because we're about to actually look at that but here micah begins chapter 5 with a great prophecy one that could only be fulfilled by Jesus to Christ with in death as we learn right here in Matthew chapter 27 but verse 30 they smote him on the head and after they had mocked him they took the robe off from him and his own raiment from him and led him away to be crucified but what I don't want you to neglect is this statement right here as mocking him as they're beating him in fulfillment of Micah 5:1 what do they say they say hail King of the Jews right at the time of the New Testament there were two predominant tribes Judea or Judah and Benjamin meaning the former Israelites had been dispersed not lost but dispersed abroad therefore in Micah we learned of a judge of Israel a king of Israel and a ruler of Israel but yet during the crucifixion they clearly said well King of the Jews right why is that the answer should be obvious this is the land of Judea and the Israelites had been dispersed at this time so basically when we're saying king of Israel were saying king of the Judeans okay remember and we're about to actually prove it here in just a moment what was delivered unto Christ but the throne of his father David and all judgment Micah five but verse two continues but thou Bethlehem Ephrathah though thou be little among the thousands of Judah yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel whose going forth have been from old from everlasting now one of the most important things you can ever do especially when it comes to the parables of Christ is always look at what is not being said as opposed to what is being said many of us highlight our Bible but try sometimes to read the parts that you don't highlight and you'll come away with a completely different viewpoint most oftentimes micah chapter 5 verse 2 clearly names bethlehem as the birthplace of our coming Redeemer but there are two points here that are usually overlooked the first being of the thousands of townships that existed within that same mentioned land of Judea Yahweh God intentionally chose the smallest second thing that we usually overlook from Micah chapter 2 or verse 2 of Micah 5 is that his goings forth have been from old from everlasting and that is why last week we turned back to the major prophet Isaiah to confirm that unto us the Israelites a child was born unto us a child is given why is that important because from the very beginning and its foundations Yahweh God taught an exclusive message and what makes it exclusive is a belief in Christ Christ is he whose goings forth have been of old from everlasting which is how he could make the claim in the very birth chapter a revelation I am the beginning and the end the root and offspring of David this is why John begins his gospel in the beginning was the word the Word was with God and that word was God but that word ultimately became flesh and dwelt among men so we tend to look at the fact that Bethlehem is the birthplace of Christ and overlooked the fact that it was specifically chosen because it was the smallest town in Judea not Jerusalem why because Christ came against Jerusalem and we've more than adamantly proven that from the series looking at Micah and it never ceases to entertain me how even in the last couple of weeks Jerusalem makes the news again right they come in and they moved the capital from Tel Aviv to Jew and seemingly no one even understands this is all scriptural no they're too busy watching The Walking Dead so Christ was not predicted by this minor prophet Micah to be born in Jerusalem which would have been likely what the majority were expecting and most assuredly with the majority are expecting today when that man of sin the son of perdition is ushered in and Jerusalem has much to do with that the second of course is the fact that Christ is exactly what Gabriel said he would be Emmanuel or God with us now we need to confirm several things number one in the Old Testament when dealing with the war between Seoul and David I'd like you to turn with me to birth Samuel chapter 23 I want you to consider what is taught over here in light of Micah chapter 5 verse 2 verse Samuel chapter 23 we learn beginning in verse 19 then came the fights to put to Saul sang doesn't David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the woods now therefore O king come down according to all the desire of thy soul come down and deliver him into the King's hand what's being said right there well Saul was in hot pursuit going against David and many of the king's men come to him and they say well is it David hiding out with him the woods right continue reading and Saul said blessed be ye of Yahweh for you have compassion upon me go I pray you prepare I know where this place is and where his hot meaning hiding place is and who has sent him there for it has been told to me that David deal very subtly Saul speaking of righteous King David whom Christ would inherit the throne thereof verse 23 Saul continues seat therefore and take knowledge of all the working places where he hides himself and come ye again to me with certainty and I will go with you for if it comes to pass and he be throughout the land that I will search them out throughout all the thousands of Judah all the thousands of Judea the townships of Judea over a thousand mentioned in 1st Samuel within Bethlehem over a thousand mentioned in Micah chapter 5 verse 2 and Yahweh God specifically chose the smallest why likely because of this historical event Saul says I will seek him out from amongst the thousands of Judah but yet here we learn in Micah chapter 5 verse 2 but thou Bethlehem Ephrathah though thou be little among the thousands of Judah yet unto me is to come forth a ruler in Israel not King of the Jews not ruler of the Jews not that ruler of just one's right but a ruler in all Israel why is this important turn with me back to the Gospel according to Matthew but I want you to consider what we learn in chapter 2 very important subject matter when dealing with the month of December in Matthew chapter 2 we learn in verse 1 now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judah or Judea in the days of Herod the King behold there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem ok so let's lay this groundwork the prophecy was given by Micah that the Messiah God and flesh would be born in the smallest township and the land of Judah and the birth of Christ goes around this Mike Matthew chapter two wise men they come to Jerusalem saying where is he that is born King of the Jews or King of the Jews as it is rendered in the King James why would they say that unless it was to be ruler of all Israel kings of Judah well again that's why it's so important in understanding the slang term Jew or Judah the prophecy deals with Bethlehem Ephrata being the smallest in the land of Judah Judah was one tribe of the Israelite nations the prophecy finds its fulfillment right here in matthew chapter 2 when the wise moshai come and they say where is he that is to be born king of the Judeans and fulfillment of this prophecy for we have seen his star in the east and we have come to worship Him so what is not seen in matthew chapter 2 verse 2 or at least noticed usually the fact that they were led by a star or a light but stars in scripture almost always represent angels right perhaps as why an angel appears to Mary well when Herod the King had heard these things he was troubled and all of Jerusalem with him not Bethlehem not Samaria Jerusalem they were troubled why because the moshai came and they clearly said Micah Isaiah Amos all predicted that there would be a ruler amongst the Israelite men women and children that would inherit the throne of his father David what happens verse 4 and when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together he demanded of them where the Christ should be born where in Jerusalem but want you to understand this point the Magi came they say we want to worship king of the Israelites because they were well familiar with the law so they go to that epicenter in the land of Judah Jerusalem and they say where is he because we know prophecy will be fulfilled Herod however well let's continue reading but what I'm saying is notice Herod has no problem calling in the chief priests the scribes and Herod has no problem telling those Magi when you find them let me know so I also can worship but what was the intention of Herod to kill every firstborn male child within the land of Judah don't believe me keep reading he gathers together all the chief priests and demanded of them where Christ should be born and they said unto Him and Bethlehem of Judea for thus is written by the Prophet what prophet Micah in chapter 5 verse 2 a prediction in complete accuracy that the savior of the Israelite men women and children would be born in the smallest township and the entirety of the Land of Israel that is at least to be the inheritance that we unfortunately squandered and had to be dispersed however Judas they bind therefore in Greek when we read these terms King of the Jews or when we learn of rulers of the Jews for example well we know that its fulfillment of this prophecy why well David was Judean shortest answer the throne of judgment itself but continue reading he asked them Herod a man who wanted to kill the Messiah calls his male priests and they say Bethlehem and verse six and thou bethlehem in the land of judah are not the least among the princes of Judah for out of thee shall he come a governor that shall rule my people Israel Micah chapter 5 verse 2 verbatim fulfilled within Christ now Mike it naturally begins chapter 5 or at least the structure thereof as we know it based on number one that a messiah will be crucified a lamb will be slain during Passover and number two that a messiah will be born and born right here where they can quote exactly what they did now the chief priests and the scribes were the same chief priests and scribes who ultimately albeit 30 years later murder Jesus Christ but yet here is an admission an admission that they were familiar with Micah which makes them obviously familiar with Isaiah that they didn't possess that text and they come in and they quote verbatim what does Herod do verse 7 back in Matthew chapter 2 then Herod when he had privily privily or privately called the wise men inquired diligently what time the star appeared and he sent them to Bethlehem and told them go and search diligently for the young child and when you have found him bring me word again that I may come and worship Him I want you to think on that we're going to be back in exactly 60 seconds as we take this break please write down this section it has been a pleasure to have you with us and now we will return servicers Bible study message and thank you for rejoining me my dear friends many of you may be wondering why we actually put that intermission at the middle of these 40-minute broadcasts the answer is because we have many fans throughout the world that can only listen by compact discs and/or audio and every audio sermon that is released on this very venue it's put out in audio format and therefore when you actually go and download these particular mp3s on Micah the studio version of the opening the Middle's and the endings are on these audio tracks so if you've never heard them before you might want to look into them every one of them is different and before that break I was actually proving to you that one of the parts of the Nativity story centers around Micah chapter 5 verse 2 because this minor prophet to the Judea is clearly came in and said that Bethlehem would be the birthplace of the Redeemer therefore in process of time 3 why men come to this high place don't ask Jerusalem and they ask the ruler Herod the first they say well where is he that is to be the ruler in Israel why because it was foretold by oh so many prophets before but Herod pretending to be faithful even like because that was his nature being an Edomite told them and sent them to Bethlehem that when they find the Christ child come back and let him know so he could go and worship Christ too but yet the intention of Herod is actually outlined right here diligently they asked he sent him and said and verse 9 continues when they had heard the King they departed and lo the star which they saw in the East went before them till it came and stood over where the young child was now you can continue to read this account and I definitely suggest you do but we learned so many of these prophets for example verse 17 then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the Prophet also known as Jeremiah almost everything found within the first two chapters of Matthew and Luke's Gospel deals with fulfillment of prophecy over and over and over right there was a taste at the very beginning remember back here out of Bethlehem that specific town is to come forth the Christ child Herod called the Bale priests found out they quoted Micah chapter 5 verse 2 verbatim he calls back to iseman sends them and you know the rest it's a famous Nativity story but don't overlook the fact that even our brother they eat oh my god unquote can give the false illusion of a desire to want to worship and this is going to be very very important back here in mica especially when we get to the next few chapters for example micah chapter 7 the final chapter trustee not in a friend verse fight put not confidence in a guide for the sun dishonours the father the daughter rises against her mother a man's enemy says a men of his own household christ clearly taught that verbatim from micah chapter 7 that a man's enemy should be of his own household so it's important to understand Christ fulfills all of the rest of the Messianic prophecies and Micah doesn't split hairs because well he says that God will come God will plead amongst his people one more thing I want you to consider it's found also within the Gospels but Luke in the Gospel according to st. Luke we learn right at the very beginnings in chapter 2 verse 1 and it came to pass in those days that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that the world or that area should be taxed and all went to be taxed every one into his own City and Joseph also went from Galilee out of the city of Nazareth into the land of Judea unto a City of David which is called Bethlehem because he was of the house race and lineage of David that's King James my friend so now you understand why it was that Yahweh God could have chosen Samaria could have chosen Jerusalem but didn't now my friends if we were to overlay this in modern terms this would be the equivalent of God coming in and predicting that our Redeemer won't be born in New York or Los Angeles but rather Brooks Georgia ok a very very small Township and a Township that I might paid severely and dearly with the loss of their firstborn why well Herod obviously perhaps you know the story goes back into Bethlehem and the lands of Judea after saying he wanted to worship the ruler of the Israelite people and desired to kill oh you'd be a fool my friends to think it's not the same way today especially with the abortion mill with the pharmaceutical industry poisoning us at every single angle and I bring that up as food for thought but we tend to think hey the government knows what's best for us when oftentimes the government is out to kill Grace Mercy your Redeemer your God and that's why I've chosen to preach from the book of Revelation when Christ returns to governments that are in bed with the Whore of Babylon said in war to make war with your king so so much for reconciling God and Mammon huh it doesn't work so we prove several things already but this is a beautiful account because Gabrielle that Morningstar is the very angel of the Lord that appears unto Joseph and Mary if you continue reading but we learn right here in Luke 2 - that Joseph had to leave Nazareth and go back into the land of Judea into the City of David because Bethlehem was the City of David which is why I took you to the book of Samuel to confirm that fact though it be the littlest what we're going to deal with in Micah chapter 5 deals with a remnant a remnant now you understand why Isaiah chapter 9 verse 6 says what it says unto us not necessarily all of Israel but a remnant within the remnant don't believe me well continue reading and so that while they were there the days were accomplished that Mary should be delivered and she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in the manger because there was no room for him at the end you know this account and in fact were going to towards the end of this month tell the Nativity story again arranged as a single gospel narrative as we've been known to do every three or four years at Christmas but right here in Luke chapter two what I want to get you is what the angel says beginning in verse 10 the angel said unto them fear not for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be unto all for unto you Is Born This Day in the City of David a savior which is Christ our Lord now we're gonna leave it right there and hopefully I brought to life several facts that you may have overlooked about Bethlehem the first is it's the City of David which is why it was chosen because David was a man according to Yahweh's own heart as per the course that the Redeemer would be born there especially in light of the fact that of the thousands of townships in Judea it ties right back to David when he Ward against so second point is that all of this was fulfilled both on death and on birth and is it an interesting that the order is reversed back here in Micah we'll pick back up the nativity here at about two weeks but back in Micah Micah by verse one deals with Christ being murdered smote upon the cheek and he who would lay down for one and all time the ultimate sacrifice why well it's expedient just as we covered last week as Caiaphas said that one man should taste death so that all the Israelites did not and that he would be governor second point is at Birth the smallest township the land of Judea because it is the City of David thus the throne of David how many people will tell you don't judge Christ came to be a judge that's what that throne represents and Christ clearly taught that he didn't come the first time to judge but he will the second time that is he who separates as we have covered more than adamantly from this very venue and so we're gonna move on from these two verses that have taken almost 30 minutes to preach but they're so important especially at this time because they'll be telling this story they'll be calling them a king of the Jew right and they don't ever go back to the very prophecies that were fulfilled by Micah or Jeremy the Prophet in Christ that say he is to be a ruler in all Israel so that is why we went to the gospel the Magi came say where is the king of the Jews but the prophecy says he was to be king of Israel big difference because they're not synonymous moving on Micah chapter 5 verse 3 therefore will he give them up until the time that she which travaileth has brought forth then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel my friends so important and why I spent a little time explaining the disbursement scattering and ultimately gathering of the Israelite men women and children because if you understand that those Israelites went north over the Caucasus Mountains settled most of what we consider to be Europe today you'll understand why by the time of Christ it went from Israel meaning Israelites all 12 tribes to Jew or Judah okay because only one tribe stayed behind clearly outlined within the prodigal son but right here is another prophecy and we're gonna deal with many of them for the next few weeks that's ultimately fulfilled in Christ and mentioned by another minor prophet who Hosea I'd like you to consider Hosea chapter 11 where we learn in verse 8 how shall I give me up Ephraim question of Yahweh God why is that important because scripture says Ephraim is Yahweh God's firstborn perhaps it's a study for another day but right here we learn how shall I get me up how shall I deliver thee O Israel how shall I make thee turn back unto me I will not execute fierceness of my anger I will not return to destroy eat briam many things to consider hosea clearly comes in and says that Yahweh God will scatter his people dele God will turn his back upon them at least during this time and it stands to reason you don't recognize Christ well you're never gonna recognize the signs that precede his ultimate return the return that takes place centering around someone Jerusalem but Christ to ultimately render that judgment he said he didn't do the first time or come to do at least so Christ says to judge the world comes in and says don't judge and as a result evil flourishes and as a result even EDA might tear bastards like Herod and tibias can come in and say I want to worship them too and even people with good intentions can come in and say well Bethlehem there it is it's not even realizing that they're sending a death curse which is why digressed right here and might could approve isn't it interesting that Christ didn't come in and say hey everyone's gonna love you he came in and Todd Micah that a clothes are they of his own household and wouldn't you know being betrayed by her brother so in Micah chapter 5 verse 4 and he shall send strong and feed in the strength of Yahweh in the majesty and the name of Yahweh his god and they shall abide for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth notice Jesus Christ stands in the name of Yahweh God and isn't it interesting that the enemies of Christ use replacement names they use titles that mean he who cannot be named but yet nowhere in Scripture does God say don't know my name or that my name is too sacred it can't be pronounced Christ himself will come in the strength of God and in the majesty of the name of Yahweh God why is that important because those that overcome the ultimate battle according to the book of Revelation also know the name so point in case people come in and say the Jews are God's chosen well the Jews don't mention Yahweh's name because it's too holy it's not huh she shall weigh God and Christ came to set free the captives and we should know this anyway I will give them up the Israelites until the time of the travail meaning this time we're in right now remember in Micah chapter 4 but verse 10 be in pain and labor to bring forth o daughter of zion like a woman in travail for now thou shall go forth out of the city and dwell within the field but you shall go to Babylon so clearly apostasy is just that leaven will expand like a pregnant women woman will but ultimately at the end of that time what happens childbirth a very natural event and I believe in many ways were witnessing the birth pangs of a new we're in we are in that time of Jacob's trouble where many of our kinsfolk are crying out who can deliver who can make war even well if you stay tuned with us on this very important series looking at the words of the minor prophet Mike I hope to actually explain part of that and he shall stand and feed in the strength of Yahweh God but the famine in the end times isn't for literal bread it's not for milk for the word of God and while we live in an era where practically everything is bass ackwards it behooves us to actually stay true to the Word of God to be like the faithful Bereans and apply what we learn here just because somebody is a king in Jerusalem doesn't mean that the righteous like pilot or Herod just because a man says I want to worship Christ too doesn't mean they do that they may be wanting to kill you have to use discernment and so until next time this is pastor visitor from Brooks Georgia in the covenant people's Church if you're able to please support covenant peoples ministry December is imperative to make it over the hurdal into the new year until then always remember great studies warper Christ and amen
