GALATIANS (Part #13)
( Galatians 5:22 to 6:2 )

(Raw Text:)

hello again dear kinsfolk and thank you for joining me I'm pastor Visser of the covenant peoples church and ministry located in beautiful Brooks Georgia and today we're going to continue in our study examining the Epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Galatians I believe today makes the thirteenth segment in our examination on Galatians and as you can see we're going through this very casually because there are oh so many things that Paul teaches here that I personally believe that if we as the Christian body could apply to our walk we could circumvent a lot of woes that are guaranteed to come down the pike and in the last segment we basically left off with Paul going through all the works of the flesh and of course those are put there for your benefit so you're able to understand who is led around by the dictates of the Holy Spirit or who is led around by their own flesh very quickly he says the works of the flesh are adultery fornication uncleanness lasciviousness idolatry witchcraft hatred variance emulations wrath strife seditions heresies envyings murders drunkenness revellings and that basically ends his list and while it is quite expansive what's interesting about this list and as we proved in part 12 a week ago according to Romans chapter one they who do these things most assuredly according to the Mosaic law and the book of Revelation will not be found within the coming kingdom and that is why Paul leads off here in Galatians chapter five but verse 21 he says I tell you before as I have told you in times past that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God now unfortunately we live in a rebuilt Babylon where many people come in and they don't like the exclusivity of the Bible and its message they really want to make it one-size-fits-all and basically all you have to do is believe turn with me to confirm what Paul is saying here looking at the works of the flesh - first Corinthians we're going to look at chapter six this time however I want you to consider verse nine in first Corinthians chapter six Paul says know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God questioned be not deceived and then Paul goes through the list he says neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor abusers of themselves with mankind nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God and to the chagrin of the judeo-christian who doesn't like how that sounds we should point out that actually all of these characteristics and traits were forbidden by the Mosaic law adultery fornication etc but notice Paul continues here in 1st Corinthians chapter 6 he says and such were some of you but you're washed but ye are sanctified but she are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the spirit of our colleges now two things I'd like to point out right here as we begin this thirteenth segment in Galatians and that is this notice Paul uses the word justified the same terminology he uses in Galatians to tell the foolish Galatians that they're not justified by the law Paul doesn't come in and say don't follow the law and one thing Paul the Apostle most assuredly does not do is come in and told them to go out and commit sin which would be a transgression of that law but Paul continually fights against well Judaizers Pharisees something that he once was known as Saul so what's interesting about this we're about to move in to the works of the spirit or walking and abiding within the spirit and he says right here he says some of you the Israelites and the item i'ts by extension were just like beings how about in short not going to inherit the eternal kingdom that was prepared but he says this you're justified by the name of Jesus and the spirit of our God now that's the part I wanted you to pay close attention to because back here in Galatians part 5 we now continue our study picking it back up in verse 22 Paul goes through this long list of the works of the flesh which are exactly opposite of the fruit of the Spirit wondering what the fruit of the Spirit is well Paul is about to provide that answer verse 22 Paul says this but the fruit of the Spirit is love joy peace long-suffering gentleness goodness faith meekness temperance and of such there is no law nine things Paul points out right here in Galatians chapter five as being the fruit of the spirit now before we actually look at these the terminology fruit within scripture can note one of two things number one it usually always 90% of the time denotes a person's works what he brings forth for example Christ says we are to judge a proverbial tree according to their fruit or their work but so also in Scripture does fruit denote the offspring or the progeny hail Mary full of grace blessed art thou among women pray for us sinners now you know the analogy but blessed be the fruit of thy womb we learn from that angelic salutation so fruit usually denotes the offspring of man or what he does with his hands what he brings forth so notice the fruit of the Spirit as you walk through life if you want to know who is led around by the aforementioned Spirit of God who abides within and dwells within the Holy Spirit they will be this number one first and foremost love a polite way of saying charity though it was the Apostle Paul who says even though I have the gift of gab to paraphrase and I don't have love it means nothing even says that the greatest work or fruit amongst men is charity the greatest of these is charity and love that should be common sense based on what we've dealt with in the last three segments looking at Galatians Paul says that you need to observe the golden rule but you need to do unto others as you would have done unto you now that's a very simplified way of living and basically go through life doing to your neighbor your kinsfolk and your people exactly as you would have them do unto you number two is joy joy is a little harder because we're living in an apostasy where many are falling away from the faith that was one delivered unto the Saints and even Paul and Peter had that contention here in the book of Galatians and I starting to understand why actually seemingly every time you preach on the fruit of the spirit or abiding within the spirit there will be a good portion of men and women who don't understand the spiritual teachings much less how to apply those spiritual teachings like these fruits of the spirit and they'll come in and they'll attack you of Judy izing or saying that the law has done away with her never once have I in this series on Galatians nor Paul for that matter in this book said not to follow the law of God so that's extremely important joy be joyful Peter says he has joy unspeakable and it's easy for us to have joy when things are going well when times are good but how many of us actually show joy in tribulations and hardships that one's a little harder but Paul was able to do that okay even Peter would come in now consider that contention and consider how many people would have looked at the Apostle Paul going straight up against Peter and saying you know what you cannot be saved through the act of circumcision you have to excuse me on that one dear kinsfolk he's a retarded cat he actually showed up here at our farm about two three years ago actually he's been around quite a while but he really can't survive on his own as you just saw the third in Paul's list is peace and peace is something that's so utterly important why because we as the faithful need to find peace within ourselves we need to find peace with our God and we also need to come to peace with our faith with these fruits of the spirit as we contrast them with the works of the flesh now before Paul even gives this list and as we covered in part 12 these two are opposite while we abide within these Tabernacles this flesh the spirit works against the flesh and vice-versa so it's very important to not only find joy even in tribulations and in the minor things that you go through in life but also to be at peace Paul says that a true faithful genuine Christian will strive to get along peaceably with all now that doesn't mean that it will be able to but that means that that is the pattern or the example that is laid out the fourth is long-suffering which is a polite way of saying patience something we need to exercise more and more as we go into this latter day apostasy known as rebuilt Babel one long suffering there is a time and a place for everything and there most assuredly is a time to be patient to sit back to wait and even oftentimes even greater to watch and see what happens that falls under long-suffering gentleness there's something you may have overlooked and unfortunately these terms these fruits of the spirit have been bastardized by judeo-christianity unfortunately but what can be said about gentleness well if you intend on being a preacher and this isn't only on a global scale but for those of you who attempt to teach your own household your own children you're better off doing so gently now I've learned this in the past unfortunately now no one ever really took me to the site and taught me how to preach and therefore I've gone through many levels and there's been many times that I've screamed at the microphone and behind the pulpit and wouldn't you know it common sense I'm sure you would but I never realized it until as a blade that if you preach gently you'll draw more to you now you know the analogy you draw more flies with honey than vinegar okay so be gentle goodness what a characteristic and one that is so lacking in this latter era goodness now we're seeing goodness shrivel away and know so many ways and in fact goodness or righteousness being just is under attack in this current apostasy many people come in and they want to attack what is traditional things like marriage or gender and we can't go that way the final thing or two things Paul lists here it's not only goodness but faith why is faith so important so many reasons number one it is our faith that overcomes the world and number two we are saved by grace through faith according to Ephesians chapter 2 verse 8 and so faith is more important now in looking at Galatians and understanding that there were certain men crept in unawares who came from Judea and told the new Christian converts in Galatia that they had to be circumcised to be saved and knowing that Paul had to withstand them how does faith enter into that equation well number one observing the law does not denote faith I know that how that sounds and I know many people will have a problem with that faith leads you to action which is why faith without works is dead now notice we're looking at works we're looking at fruits the works of the flesh fruits of the spirit and how they are exactly opposite Paul continues back here in Galatians chapter 5 but verse 23 meekness temperance against such there is no law what does that mean that means that the Mosaic law will come in and put a limit on particular behaviors these aforementioned works of the flesh but the fruits of the spirit have no limitations there is no law forbidding them so on these nine characteristics these nine fruits of the spirit that we just looked at you can love as much as you wish and God will not condemn you you can walk around in a state of joy peace and Yahweh God will not hold that against you you can be long-suffering gentle you can be good and you can have faith and none of those things are wrong in today's society but I want you to notice how so many of those things are missing in today's current era many people don't want to go around they don't launch it you unto others as they would have done unto them what is the direct result of that no way God pours upon their head what they wished for others so moving away now from the fruit of the Spirit but Paul's teachings pertaining through them let's continue in verse 24 Paul says and they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and the lusts now notice this is a spiritual teaching Paul says that they who walk within the spirit or they who have these fruits of the spirit well what they will crucify the flesh and so many people come in they say hey you know what all you've got to do is accept the Bible as pastor so-and-so is written you have to do is believe in the Mosaic law but one thing you will never hear many people not all but many within this movement preach that is this to crucify itself in order to live unto Christ now notice we have to live within the flesh we have to live within this world and we also if we want to walk and abide within the Holy Spirit of Yahweh God need to withstand these works of the flesh and that's basically what Paul is saying here notice they that are Christ's meaning those that belong unto Him just like he says in Ephesians chapter one they who will be found within the body of Yahshua Jesus the Christ they who belong to our kinsman redeemer what they've already crucified the flesh meaning they've already overcome the world through faith because that is part of the fruit of the Spirit but notice so many things can be taught here turn with me very quickly to concrete this point to Romans chapter 6 now Paul writes here in Romans chapter 6 beginning in verse 5 Paul says for if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death we shall be also in the exact likeness of his resurrection knowing this that our old man is crucified with him that the body of sin might be destroyed that henceforth we should no longer serve sin now that if you will is almost the punchline for today's lecture because oftentimes those who are led about by the works of the flesh are the first men and women to come in and say you know what I don't need a book to tell me what is moral what is just and so they go out and they attempt to define morality outside of God's Word and usually they'll be found doing the works of the flesh but one thing that is so hard for an Israelite man to do is to put away the old man why because in doing so they no longer are a servant unto sin and so that aforementioned man who comes in and says I'm a free thinker never in bondage to any man is truly in bondage or servitude to what the works of the flesh or in short sin which is exactly what Jesus Christ taught can't serve God or Mammon one or the other and you'll hate one or the other in the process now you can be a servant to Yahweh God or a servant to sin and many men who don't walk or abide within the Holy Spirit are a servant to sin now enough on that back here in Galatians picking it back up in chapter 5 but verse 25 Paul says if we live in the spirit let us also walk within the spirit number 1 notice that they're different now a man can live within the spirit but never walk was in the spirit else why would Paul have to come in and say if you're going to live within that Holy Spirit you need to walk within the Holy Spirit now how do we walk within the Holy Spirit it's already outlined right here by the fruits of the spirit a man who walks and or abides within the Holy Spirit of Yahshua will be found doing these 9 traits or characteristics they'll be found full of love joy gentleness long-suffering meekness etc but notice Paul says to walk within the spirit turn with me back to Roman's this time we're going to look at Romans chapter 8 very important teachings here and many people they will come in and they'll attempt to dismiss my teachings or Paul's teachings pertaining to the spirit notice Romans chapter 8 verse 3 Paul says for what the law could not do and that it was weak through the flesh God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin that is within the flesh why verse 4 that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit for they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh but they that are after the spirit the things of the Spirit and Paul even continues here in Romans chapter 8 to say but to be carnally minded is death just as he says here they which do the works of the flesh will not inherit the coming kingdom of God notice it is your inheritance the inheritance promised to the Israelites all the way back in the books of Genesis and Exodus and notice that if you abide and more importantly walk within the Holy Spirit you'll be found within that coming Kingdom if you crucify the flesh alongside the affections meaning the inclinations and the lusts or the desires to do those things you most likely will be found walking within the spirit Paul ends Galatians chapter 5 by saying in verse 26 let us not be desirous of vain glory provoking one another or envying one another this so is extremely hard to do that is for the flesh full and sinful man they usually think that there's something so great in fact this is a mistake I've made decades ago oftentimes we tend to think that if we preach the Word of God well God's using us we're so important right but it's not even us who enter into that equation and so that's for you that work of the flesh vanity ego the man who desires to fulfill the lusts of the flesh that's for you to know who is true and who is not in short Paul gives a commandment and that is don't be desirous of vain glory now you're gonna have glory within that coming Kingdom that is if you do it God's Way but many people aren't content to sit and wait on that they want the glory now just like they want the kingdom and therefore they come to this movement they call themselves a scholar and they usually 95% of the time seal from preachers like myself why because they desire the glory themselves not to give that going to Yahweh God so you ask them hey what do you think about circumcision they usually don't do like Paul says and say what saith the scripture those type of people will usually come in and say well what this bill say what does Mark say doesn't matter what Mark or bill say what matters is what the Word of God says very important so turn with me to Philippians to concrete this point however chapter 2 consider a statement Paul makes he says beginning in verse 1 if there be therefore any consolation in Christ if any comfort above if any fellowship of the Spirit if any bowels and mercies fulfill ye my joy that she be like-minded having the same love being of one Accord of one mind and let nothing be done through strife or vainglory but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves now I know many people have contacted this ministry because I preached this I clearly said countless times as Paul has that it genuine Israelite will esteem every man or adamite better than themselves not equal to but better then so where is that written right here in Philippians chapter 2 verse 3 even continues in verse 4 look not every man on his own things but every man also on the things of others let this mind be within you which was also within Jesus Christ what mind the mind to be a servant to be in servitude to Yahweh's children very hard to do because most of our people are self-serving I know most members within my detached family or that way oh they're always there to pick the scab off or to say pastor whistles of failure but they're never there when I may need five dollars in gas to go get groceries to feed my children as an example so that concludes Galatians chapter five leaving us with only the sixth and final chapter to get through and Paul's letter to the Galatians don't be desirous of vain glory why all glory goes to Yahweh God there's truly no self within the body of Christ and if you were with me earlier this year when we looked at Ephesians we confirmed right in the first chapter Christ is the head of the church which is his body we are just members within now some will be proverbial foreskin that need to be cut out as Paul told Peter some will only fulfill the lusts of the flesh and they won't be found within the coming kingdom makes perfect sense and others will be found through faith within that body of Christ or the Church of Yahweh in short how do we know well number one the genuine Christian won't be desirous of vain glory because by default all glory goes to Yahweh God number two they're not a provoker that word provoke is so apropos to our Christian walk because the enemy oftentimes will send in what is known as agent provocateurs their modus operandi is to provoke to sow discord to stir the pot / verbally but to provoke you into doing one of many things giving an opinion violent acts you know any of these works of the flesh so number one when you see a man desiring glory it's vain and he's not of Yahweh God number two when you see a man who's provoking or envying another they're of the wrong spirit they're not of that holy spirit and so let's now continue our study in galatians chapter six picking it back up in verse 1 paul says brethren if a man be overtaken in a fault ye which are spiritual restore such an one in the spirit of meekness considering it thy self unless thou also be tempted now just because Christ Immanuel God with us dine with sinners and publicans didn't mean that he solely hung out with them ok and neither should we as an example why well bad manners truly will corrupt good morals and birds of a feather do flock together often times many of our children our sons and daughters even who are found within the gula did so because of guilt by association not because of anything bathed themselves did that also by default denotes that they were led around by the lust or desires of the spirit to do those things which are unseemly according to Romans chapter one why because God gives them a reprobate mind seeing that they don't like to retain God within their knowledge so how can we avoid being given a reprobate or perverted mind by Yahweh God bide within the holy spirit also notices Paul says if one of your neighbor or your brethren are overtaken within a fault meaning habitual sin restore such a one but do so in the spirit of meekness now it's going to do you very little good to go to a family reunion or to go to a Christmas event for example and to go around your Christian family and tell them you're wrong you don't understand the Bible now you can beat them over the head with the Word of God but you're not going to convince the naysayer that is through a theological argument you may by example Paul understood that so what example are we setting when we come in and we say oh you're a sinner God is not for you when ironically God is more for the sinner than the person just man so it's important to understand and we're going to skip around here since I mentioned Ephesians turn with me one book over to Ephesians but chapter 4 Paul says beginning in verse 1 I therefore the prisoner of Yahweh beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation wherewith you're called with all lowliness meekness and long-suffering and forbearing one another in love endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace now what is so interesting about Galatians and Ephesians both is that modern Christendom usually will come in and say well Paul taught that the law was done away with it was nailed to the cross in these two books specifically but did he not at all in fact Paul goes through this long list of the works of the flesh the fruits of the Spirit and even begins chapter 6 here by teaching his converts to use discernment by telling they in Galatia that they who are led around by the dictates of their physical member won't be found within the coming kingdom so it all comes down to discernment which ironically requires the law to put a difference between the clean and the unclean so consider that as well some manuscripts put caught as opposed to overtaken and that would mean then that Galatians 6 verse 1 reads as such brethren if a man be caught in a fault and thus it comes full-circle to exactly what Christ huh you can either be a servant to Yahweh God or a slave unto sin but either way you're going to serve something okay you're gonna serve your flesh or you're gonna serve Yahweh God in spirit and truth but that's not the way of the full or the atheist or the natural man they usually come in and say well I don't need the Word of God very important to understand verse 2 here in Galatians 6 he says bear ye one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ what is this law of Christ because judeo-christian home unfortunately comes in and says well Jesus died so you can now serve other gods steal killed destroyed cetera they basically teach anti no Mian ISM and say that you don't need to follow the law but here Paul uses the terminology law of Christ now the judeo-christians will usually take that and say see Christ brought a new law that did away with the Mosaic law and we within this movement will usually take it to say well see Christ gave the law to Moses which of these is correct turn with me to Thessalonians first Thessalonians as we wind this down and your kinsfolk if you have any questions that you would like to have answered on a upcoming broadcast please feel free to email this ministry or contact us and we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have oftentimes I know these teachings on the Spirit are a little harder door to comprehend and for that reason I really don't understand why spiritual is so much easier than the flesh and it should be and my notes are a lot of sorts I'm sorry this wasn't marked but in examining this in Thessalonians chapter one or the first letter or epistle of Paul consider a statement that Paul makes this time in Chapter five but verse 14 Paul says I will Paul speaking therefore that the younger women marry bear children guide the house give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully why would that be well Satan is considered what the accuser of our brethren anytime you go around and you fall or are caught or overtaken as Paul puts it here in Galatians 6 you're brought back into bondage okay if you be to lead up the Spirit you're not under the law that was taught right here but I want you to consider this right here how important this teaching is bear he one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ now James the half-brother of Christ taught similarly in James chapter 2 but he says in verse 8 if you fulfilled the Royal law according to the scripture thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself you do well stopping right there James like Paul like Christ and like Moses teaches something known as the Royal law or the golden rule this law of Christ which is do unto others as you would have done unto you why James provides that answer in verse 9 he says if you respect persons you commit sin and are convinced of the law as a transgressor makes perfect sense to me why because Yahweh God is not a respecter of persons and a judge or a discerner in this context has to always remain impartial and impartiality is almost impossible to achieve if you are a respecter of persons and then therefore we're going to leave it here in Galatians chapter 6 verse 2 and we're going to pick it back up in the fourteenth segment and less than a week from today but do this notice he says in verse three if any man think to himself to be something when he is nothing he deceives himself so don't walk around thinking you're greater than everyone else esteem your Israelite can smoke better than yourself and then you will fulfill this law of Christ as we looked at it today and we'll look at that more in depth next time as we pick this study back up thank you for joining me I'm pastor visser and I'll be with you again very shortly and until then war for Christ
